iRest is simple to learn and easy to practice. It can be practiced by anyone, regardless of physical ability or experience with medication. Once learned, iRest becomes a set of tolls for life(irest.org). During this session at Rise, Lisa Kawalec will guide you into a deep state of relaxation following a carefully curated protocol developed by the iRest Institute. The intention is to release emotional tension, soften your muscles, and calm your nervous system. You simply lie down and allows yourself to be guided through holding awareness on various parts of the body. Benefits of practicing Yoga Nidra can include improved sleep and memory reduced stress and anxiety, and better managed PTSD. This practice also releases melatonin, a powerful antioxidant. If the traditional Shavasana pose (laying on one's back) is not available to you, other poses that suit your body are available. Yoga Nidra can be practiced by everyone.
